Led
by singer Kevin Tucker, ICKE have the swagger that
so many English bands have forgotten. Tucker's twisted, barbed
lyric's are sometimes thoughtful and ironic, sometimes childish
and hostile. Nobody is too big or small a target for him to spit
his piss taking vitriol on. This is Noel Coward romancing
the Devil. Drummer Mark 'Frank' Reid snipers ICKE's songs with precision percussion. What ever light and shade the music
requires Frank administers it with consummate ease.
Add to this some stick spinning showboating and a smooth soul voice,
he's worth your entrance fee alone. If Frank brings
the funk to the ICKE sound, guitarist Midge
Day brings the rock. A little man making a big sound. Dropping
chunks of fuzzy scuzzy blues into the mixture, he seems to spend
most of his time on stage sulking or doing star jumps off the monitors.
Is it not time to let ICKE into your life?
Love them, like you love your mama.
